God’s Goodness Toward Us
One of the greatest commitments we can make is to never think small or downcast about ourselves, but to see our lives through the potential God has placed in us through Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 7:11 (NLT), “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” Our Heavenly Father has already proven His goodness—He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, for our redemption, poured His Spirit into us, and restored us to fellowship with Himself. If this doesn’t convince us that God is good and delights in blessing His children, nothing else will.
We can’t beat God’s giving. He has poured into us every good thing we need to live a more than abundant life through Christ, and He has equipped us to stand firm against every dart, trick, plot, and deception of the evil one. Our Dear Heavenly Father wants us to be blessed coming in and blessed going out. Psalm 84:11(NLT) tells us, “For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.” He withholds nothing from those who belong to Him and showers us in His blessings. In Ephesians 2:10, He tells us that we’re His masterpiece and He’s made us brand new in Christ by placing His Holy Spirit within us! This verse goes on to tell us that He did all this so that we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Trusting God with a Renewed Mind
He had plenty of time to think through His redemption plan and how He would perfect us in Christ. Now, God has us right where He wants us, and we can be confident in that. He never makes mistakes. He’s called us, given us a purpose, justified us, and equipped us perfectly for all He wants us to do in this life and the next. Everything has been completed on our behalf—now our part is simple: trust Him.
For many of us, that’s where the struggle lies. We haven’t fully trusted God with a convinced heart and mind. He won’t punish us for it, but our lack of faith shows up in ways that frustrate or disappoint us. We may label it differently—delay, setback, disappointment—but the root is the same: a deficit of faith. One of the most revealing ways this shows up is through prayer requests that seem delayed, leaving us face to face with the truth of our trust.
2 Peter 1:21 (ESV) says, “For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” God’s Word is the ultimate authority on every part of life. There are no gaps in His knowledge, no flaws in His wisdom, no shadow of doubt in His perfection. When God speaks, it is done. Our job is simple: recognize it, trust it, and live by it. There’s no room for hesitation or questioning. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us not to lean on our own understanding—we can’t see what He sees or know what He knows. Instead, we must trust Him fully and let every part of our lives line up with His ways.
The Commitment to Study and Believe
What does that look like for us? It looks like a commitment to God to renew our minds with His Word. We can’t be double-minded when it comes to faith in what He says. Romans 10:17 makes it clear: faith comes by hearing the Word of God. If we’re praying for deliverance, breakthrough, or new blessings, God is telling us we must know His Word to build up our faith.
2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP) says, “Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth.” Too often, we want our prayers answered without this step. We want the desires of our hearts to manifest without first showing ourselves approved before Him—without showing a growing hunger for His Word.
Renewing our minds and internalizing God’s Word is the only way to spiritually prepare for all He wants to give us. Many think 2 Timothy 2:15 is just for pastors or teachers, but it’s God’s requirement for every believer. The psalmist put it this way in Psalm 138:2 (NKJV): “I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.” God has lifted His Word above all else, and we must do the same. When we honor His truth, renew our minds to it, and believe it, we unlock the door to the blessings He has already prepared with our names on them.

This week, choose one specific promise of God’s Word that speaks to a current need in your life. Write it down and commit it to memory. Each day, pray that verse, speak it over your situation, and let it reshape your thinking. At the end of the week, journal the ways your perspective has shifted as you renewed your mind to God’s truth.
Prayer
Dear Father God,
Thank You for Your Word that never fails and never changes. Forgive me for the times I have leaned on my own understanding instead of trusting You fully. Help me to renew my mind daily to Your truth, to study it faithfully, and to let it shape my thoughts and actions. Help me increase my faith so that it is fully persuaded of Your promises. Teach me to treasure Your Word above all else, so that my life reflects the victory and blessing You’ve already prepared for me. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, I pray, amen. ∎
