“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”
John 16:13(ESV)
The Person of the Holy Spirit
Who the Holy Spirit Is
The Holy Spirit is not an abstract force or distant power—He is the very Spirit of God, alive and present in every believer. Jesus promised His followers that the Spirit would come as a Helper, a Comforter, and a Guide into all truth. John 14:16–17 (NLT) says, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”
The Power and Presence of God
The Holy Spirit empowers us to live beyond our own strength. He convicts us of truth, transforms our character, and equips us with gifts to build up the body of Christ. Acts 1:8 (NLT) reminds us, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Why It Matters
Walking with the Spirit is not optional for believers—it is essential. Without Him, we can know about God but never truly live in God’s power. Galatians 5:25 (NLT) says, “Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” The Spirit guides our steps, strengthens our faith, and makes the presence of Jesus real to us every day.

The Partnership: Walking in Step With the Holy Spirit
Most of us drift through life without ever taking a hard look at the state of our souls—until a storm knocks the wind out of us. Suddenly, the cracks start to show, and we’re confronted with just how fragile our faith really is. In those moments, two things usually rise
The Enemy Thought He Had Me
From the very beginning, the enemy thought he had won when he tricked Eve into eating the forbidden fruit—the very act God had warned Adam not to do. What the enemy didn’t realize is that even in that moment when it seemed like Adam was defeated, God already had a
The Hope of Marriage
Ms. Mattie was quite fond of Deanna because she was so sweet and always took time to chat some mornings in their break room at work. On one of those mornings, they talked about Deanna’s desire to find the right man and how challenging it had been in the past.
Ignoring the Holy Spirit
Romans 14:23 (NLT) “But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.” “I’d rather be safe than
The Spirit of Truth
The first born-again Christian I met who spoke about being filled with the Holy Spirit was a woman I had known most of my life. I was 14, and she was a mother of seven with an abusive husband who treated them all terribly. They were poor, and she was
God Made My Mountain Stand Strong
Psalm 5:12(NLT) “For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.” If we’re not committed to God, He knows that we’re not going to give a full commitment in our hearts and minds to a spouse. God is looking at what we do
There’s No Success Outside of the Holy Spirit
Romans 8:26 (NLT) “And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.” Our Heavenly Father never intended Jesus Christ to accomplish His mission
