Prayer and Patience

Dear Heavenly Father,

This week, the Holy Spirit spoke a word to me, and it was beyond wonderful! I hear people talking about how much they want to hear from You, and they don’t feel as though they can. I relate to their desire because I, too, had a deep yearning for two-way dialogue where I pray, and You speak to my spirit as well. Many of my loved ones are blessed to hear from You. They talk about the sweetness of Your voice, and I didn’t understand why I couldn’t audibly hear it. I was seeking You for more clarification and understanding about this, and You gave it to me.

I heard the Spirit as I was speaking in tongues while washing dishes. It’s a chore that relaxes me, so my mind was at ease, and so was my soul, as I used this quiet time to pray. It wasn’t a voice that knocked me off my feet, and somehow, I assumed it would be. It was not loud and intrusive, but it quickened me all the same, and the understanding of Your Word impacted my consciousness like water quenches a thirst. A laser of words too sharp for vocal chords zipped across my mind, and I perceived “You need to talk to me more.”

It was so quick, that if I had not been still in my mind and heart, I would have missed it. I’m so glad that I didn’t. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 7:7-8(NLT) “7 Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” This is effective prayer discipline. The problem is that we want things on the double. We want instant gratification, but You are not on our time schedules.

You tell us in Isaiah 40:31(NKJV), “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” We must wait on You and be patient. You will energize us with Your strength, so much so that we soar like eagles. You tell us in Hebrew 11:6 that You are a Rewarder to those that diligently seek You. Without diligence, there is no reward.

Thank You for helping us to understand Kingdom principles so that we can continue growing in Christ. With You, our perseverance will pay off. It will be rewarded as we keep asking, seeking, and knocking through prayer and patience. Thank You for letting me know that I can talk with You often, and Thank You blessed Father, for hearing me even when I don’t hear You.

Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
