God’s Perfect Peace

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your Word tells us Philippians 4:4-6 that we should not be anxious about anything, but instead, we should pray about everything. You desire a conversation with us about what we need, and in this conversation, we are to thank You for all You’ve done. Our thankfulness conveys that we understand we can’t do anything without You, and that we are where we are today in life because You have blessed us. You command us to delight ourselves in You, because You are indeed our all-powerful, delightful God.

Our relationship with You is made stronger and more pleasing to You through our faith. In Hebrews 11:6(NLT), You tell us, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Faith is the way we sincerely express our gratitude for all You’ve done. Faith is the attitude that must be present when we come to You in prayer.

There is nothing too hard or too big for You to handle. Through humility and repentance, we can approach Your throne of mercy and grace with any problem we may have. Sometimes, we are so disappointed in ourselves for our wrong choices and mistakes that we feel we can’t or shouldn’t come to You, but this is never the case. You know our shortcomings, and You knew we would make a mistake before we made it. You love us despite our weaknesses. You said in 2Corinthians 12:9(NLT), “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” Your grace is truly amazing, and it is all we need to move forward in life and to keep growing in faith according to Your Will and Plan.

Philippians 4:7(NLT) says, “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Walking in Your peace is a choice that each of us can make. We can choose to be anxious, or we can choose to let Your peace overtake us. My grandmother helped me see this more clearly. She said, “When your mind and heart are at peace, everything seems to work itself out much better than if you let yourself have an uneasy heart and mind.” My grandmother and I had a long conversation about how peace of mind can’t be bought with money or gifts. It can only come from You. No matter what our circumstances and conditions appear to be, we can choose to stand on Your Word and trust in Your faithfulness and desire to help us. When we take the step of trusting You, the Holy Spirit will work on the inside. He will bypass our understanding and coat our hearts with Your perfect peace.

Thank You for Jesus Christ, thank You for the Holy Spirit, and thank You for Your many blessings. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
