Faith isn’t optional. Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) makes this very clear to us: “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Faith is the foundation. Trusting God and His Word is the anchor for our entire existence. This is something we’re told very early in our walk—but living it out is where it gets real. We need to brace ourselves to deal with the fact that life will always present situations that press on our faith, exposing exactly how much we actually trust God. And let’s be honest—this is the part of the journey that most of us like the least.
Hard moments are never fun. When we see other folks going through it, many of us silently hope, Lord, don’t let that be my story. But Scripture tells us clearly that it’s through challenges, and sometimes struggles, that our faith matures. In our weakest places, God shows us just how deep His love runs. Trusting Him means we let go of what we think is best and give the Holy Spirit full permission to lead, guide, and redirect us—even when it doesn’t make sense.
We like to think we’re in control, but life will humble you quick. Things fall apart, answers don’t come, people walk away—and suddenly, we’re reminded: we never had control in the first place. That’s why 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” Worry and faith can’t live in the same room. One always pushes the other out. Some of us know what it’s like to be so consumed by worry that it squeezed every ounce of faith out of the picture.
Let’s be clear: when we’re anxious or fearful, it’s a red flag that we’re not fully convinced God has us. But the truth is, He’s already invited us to trust Him—and He’s earned that trust. Just because we can’t see Him doesn’t mean He’s not fully present.
We need a perspective shift. Without realizing it, we often try to pull God down to our level—shrinking Him to fit inside the limits of our understanding or experience. But let’s be real: God could make a rock cry out if He wanted to. That’s how small our “impossible” is to Him. There is nothing too hard for our Heavenly Father, and our faith needs to match the scale of that truth. In Matthew 6:33 (NLT), Jesus lays it out plainly: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” This verse doesn’t just set the order of our priorities—it stretches our thinking and lifts our confession. It points us to the majesty and matchless power of a God who has no equal. That’s the key right there: seeking God first. Before the worry, before the pain, before the spiral. And when we come before His throne, our attitude should reflect that priority—anchored in faith, covered in gratitude, and confident that He’s already working on our behalf.
Philippians 4:19 (NLT) says, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” God supplies our needs from His riches—not the world’s. But let’s be honest, we still get caught up. If something’s missing, we panic. If we lose a job, a relationship, or a sense of control, we spiral. But as citizens of the Kingdom, we’re called to a different kind of trust.
Single women wonder if marriage will ever happen, silently asking, “God, did You forget me?” But Jesus answered that question in Matthew 6:26 (NLT): “Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?” The question you must ask is—Do you believe you are? Because God already said you’re worthy. He already said you are loved. And His Word is enough.
It took me time to believe that. For years, I let fear run my life. I worried about things big and small—living in a constant state of what-ifs. Fear took up the space that love and trust were meant to fill. But through His Word, God restored as I began to renew my mind. Romans tells us faith comes by hearing—and I had to hear truth daily until it sank deep. God had already been faithful, but I had to train my heart to trust Him in the way He deserves.
Here’s the truth: when you really trust God, fear loses its grip. Worry doesn’t get to dictate your decisions. Anxiety can knock at the door, but you don’t let it move in. You’re determined to squeeze fear out of your story. Peace becomes your posture—not because everything’s perfect, but because you know exactly who’s holding it all together. The goal is always the same, to let God’s love settle in where fear once lived. When your heart gets anchored in faith, that’s where you’re headed—resting in the truth and security that no matter what, God never fails. ■
