There’s a confidence that settles in your soul when you go through some things and God shows up for you in a major way. You walk a little taller, speak a little bolder, and your heart beats steady with the reminder that when God is on your side, nobody—absolutely nobody—stands a chance against you. Romans 8:31 (NLT) lays it out plain: “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” This is not just a feel-good verse. It’s a truth to live by—a reason to rejoice.
If you need proof that God protects and rescues His people, flip open the book of Daniel. There we see bold faith on full display. Daniel 3:25 (NLT) gives us one of the most powerful rescue stories ever recorded: “Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!”
What gets me every time is that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego weren’t looking for an escape plan. They were ready to give up their lives rather than bow down to an idol. That’s the kind of sold-out faith God honors. He didn’t keep them from the fire—He stepped into it with them.
But let’s be real. How many of us can honestly say we’d have that same courage? Would we stand firm when the heat gets turned up in our lives? That’s not a question to condemn us, but one to check the condition of our faith. 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NLT) tells us straight: “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.”
A one-time self-check won’t cut it. This is about building a daily habit—something that sticks with you for life. It’s that moment-by-moment heart check. Are our thoughts, decisions, and reactions showing a deep trust in God, or are we folding under pressure?
And then there’s Daniel in the lion’s den. Another powerful reminder that God doesn’t leave His people hanging. Daniel 6:22-23 (NLT) says: “My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.” The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on him, for he had trusted in his God.”
That’s the kind of bold, unwavering faith we should be aiming for. Daniel wasn’t arrogant; he was confident in the God he served. And when you walk with that kind of reverence and trust, God will blow your mind every single time.
Let’s be honest—faith like that isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it feels like free-falling with no safety net in sight. Like you’re standing on nothing but a promise, waiting for God to catch you. But when He shows up—and He always does—the praise that comes out of your mouth is raw, real, and refined like gold.
So today, wherever you are, check your heart. Test your faith. And remind yourself that no fire, no lion, no trial stands a chance when God is on your side. ■
