Finding Peace in God’s Care-You Are Not Too Much for Him

Matthew 6:26 (NLT) says, “Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?”

Life be life-ing sometimes, doesn’t it? Bills piling up, pressure coming from every direction, questions swirling about what’s next… and you’re just out here trying to breathe. Trying to hold it together with prayer and faith. And even when you feel like you’re hanging on by a thread, there’s still this quiet something inside whispering, “God’s got you.” That whisper? That’s faith. It’s showing up in the middle of the chaos, reminding you that you’re not doing this alone. God’s still holding it all together—even the pieces that feel scattered.

In Matthew 6:26, Jesus breaks it down in a way that cuts through all the doubts and fears: you are deeply valuable to God, and He is watching over you. But here’s the real question: Do you value yourself like that?  Because let’s be honest—sometimes we don’t. Sometimes we see our mess, our flaws, our past, and think, “Maybe I’m just too much. Or not enough.” We forget that God sees more than the mess—He sees the purpose underneath it.

And that’s where Jeremiah 29:11 (MSG) steps in and reminds us who’s really in control: “I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” This isn’t just a comforting thought—it’s a bold reminder that God’s vision for your life is bigger and better than anything you could imagine. He isn’t overwhelmed or put off by who you think you are or what you bring to the table. He’s working all things for your good and His glory.

So, if you’ve ever felt like you’re too much, too broken, or just too difficult for God to handle—remember this: You are never too much for the God who made you, loves you, and has already written the story of your future.

We ask God a lot of questions—sometimes wondering if He’s even listening or if He’ll answer us at all. God, will You bless me with a good man? Will I get that better-paying job? Should I move to another city? These questions swirl in our minds as we try to figure out the next move. Here’s the truth: God has plans to prosper you, but we’ve got to step out of the driver’s seat and give Him room to work. The real question is, do you believe Him when He says you are worthy, lovable, and more than enough?

Most of the time, it’s our soul running the show—our desires, our wants, our fears. And it gets even harder when we aren’t feeding ourselves with the truth of God’s Word. How can we hear His voice if we can’t discern what it sounds like? God’s voice comes through His Word, and everything we need to navigate life is already there. Hebrews 13:5-6 (NLT) lays it down: “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.’ So we can say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?’”

We were never meant to do this thing called “life” alone. No matter how independent we’ve learned to be, no matter how many times we’ve had to “figure it out” or hold it down on our own—that was never the plan. Jesus Christ is our Helper. Our steady anchor when the winds pick up, when the storm won’t let up, when the road feels like it’s swallowing us whole.

So whatever you’re facing, don’t just seek His Kingdom—hold on tight to it. Trust His guidance like your life depends on it, because it does. And hear me on this: you are never too much for the God. Not your questions, not your emotions, not your past, and not your pace. He’s the One who holds your future, who understands your heart better than you do, and who’s already clearing a way where there seemed to be no way. Rest in that truth. Let it speak louder than your doubt. Let it settle your soul and remind you that even when everything feels shaky, God is still steady and He is always in control. ■
