Guarding the Things That Matter Most in God’s Eyes
Hebrews 10:14 (NLT)
“For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are being made holy.”
Jesus Christ put a priceless value on us when He died on Calvary. His blood was the full payment for every sin, every failure, every wound. He didn’t offer something temporary—He offered Himself. That one perfect sacrifice settled it all. After Him, no other sacrifice was needed. We were made complete in Him, just as Colossians 2:10 (NLT) reminds us: “So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” In Him, we are filled to capacity. We lack nothing, and we’re sealed in His love.
When we forget the price that was paid for us, we start to live beneath our worth and privilege. We attach discount tags to our value, letting people, pain, or circumstances define us. But the cross already settled our worth once and for all. You were bought with the highest price—paid in full by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Paid for by the Blood of Jesus Christ
When we devalue ourselves, we devalue what Christ did for us. His sacrifice wasn’t partial—it was total. Giving our lives to Him means stripping off the old and stepping fully into the new covenant. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) reminds us, “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Understanding who we are in Jesus doesn’t give us room for arrogance—it gives us holy confidence. It’s the kind of God-assurance that says, “I know who I am because I know Whose I am.” When you walk in that truth, you stop settling for less, because you recognize the value of what His blood already purchased.
Stop Discounting What God Calls Priceless
So what does devaluing yourself really look like? It looks like waiting for someone else to tell you you’re worthy. It looks like chasing approval, attention, or love to fill a space that only God can fill. It’s looking to people to validate us in ways we think we need—when the truth is, the Creator of the universe has already said we’re enough.
Matthew 6:33 (NLT) tells us, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” When we seek God above all else, He pours into us a confidence we didn’t even know was possible. It’s not pride—it’s peace. It’s the quiet knowing that we’re secure in His love.
So stop putting a discount on what God already says is priceless. His stamp of approval is all you’ll ever need. ■
