The Greatness of God
Our Heavenly Father, Yahweh, the Great I Am, is brilliant beyond what we could ever attempt to define with human words. He is magnificent beyond magnificence, perfect beyond perfection, and majestic beyond majesty. God is glorious, righteous, and holy, deserving of all glory, honor, and praise. In truth, He is worthy to be praised every moment of every day, from now until eternity. As the psalmist expresses in Psalm 103:1 (NLT), “Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.” This profound sentiment should continually dwell in our hearts and be on our lips.
Crowned With Glory and Honor
As Psalm 8:4-5 (NLT) declares, “What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.” It is nothing short of a divine marvel that our Great Big Wonderful God, whose grandeur and majesty surpass all comprehension, desires to communicate and fellowship with us, mere mortals. This incredible truth highlights His boundless love and unmerited grace. Despite our insignificance in the vast expanse of creation, God has chosen us—handpicked us out from among the world—to be His very own. In His infinite wisdom and profound affection, He has elevated and honored us with a relationship that reflects His glory and care. It is a testament to His overwhelming love that He not only sees us but values us deeply, inviting us into His presence and into a fellowship that transcends the ordinary and touches the eternal.
God’s Perspective vs. Human Perspective
God says in Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT): “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” There is an immeasurable difference between divine and human understanding. This verse emphasizes that God’s thoughts and ways are infinitely higher than ours, and He uses the distance from the heavens and the earth to illustrate this vast gap. The comparison shows us that God’s wisdom and plans encompass a divine perspective that is beyond human comprehension.
Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us to take a posture of faith and trust, recognizing that God’s wisdom and ways are far beyond our own. In simple terms, our Heavenly Father holds the plan, and He knows what is best for us. This passage calls upon us to lean on His guidance, especially in seasons of uncertainty or difficulty. His plans and solutions will always surpass anything we could imagine for ourselves. Trusting this truth requires humility—acknowledging that we may not always understand what God is doing, but His wisdom is perfect, and His plans are always filled with purpose.
It’s a Walk, Not a Sprint
Genesis 1:26-27 tells us that we were created in God’s image, and Ephesians 2:10 (NLT) informs us, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” In Psalm 139:14 (NKJV), the psalmist declared, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” These wonderful truths reveal God’s meticulous and excellent handiwork in crafting our beings. Each of us is a unique reflection of His image, intricately designed with purpose and care. We can be assured that everything about us—our gifts, our experiences, our very essence—can be used for God’s glory and to serve His divine purpose. This understanding encourages us to embrace our identity in Christ and to recognize the significant role we play in our Heavenly Father’s plan.
As we contemplate God’s masterful and generous gift of life, we must recognize that in our current state, we are imperfect beings in the process of being perfected in Jesus Christ, moment by moment. None of us entered this world with hearts and minds already filled with the knowledge of God’s Word, nor did we emerge as fully mature adults. Just as Jesus Christ was once a vulnerable baby, dependent on His parents for care, we too began as infants—growing, learning, and developing. This gradual process of growth and maturity is part of God’s design, shaping us into the people He intends us to become.
Our Heavenly Father is immeasurably patient with us. Some don’t surrender their lives to Christ until the closing chapters of their lives, after spending their strength and resources serving purposes far from His Will. Yet, even then, God does not reject them. Instead, He forgives and welcomes them with joy. How deeply grateful we should be that no matter our age or past choices, our Father’s mercy remains open, and His delight is in every soul that finally comes home to Him.
God’s Patience and Our Free Will
2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) tells us, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” This verse shows God’s profound patience and His desire for all to turn to Him. God does not impose His Will upon us; instead, He grants us the freedom to choose how we will respond to His boundless goodness. He’s given us free will choice. Each of us has the power to decide whether we will embrace His love and live according to His Will or not. In His infinite patience, God awaits our response, hoping for our repentance and transformation.
As we gaze upon the wonders of creation—the towering trees, vibrant flowers, and the vast expanse of the sky, adorned with clouds, sun, moon, and stars—we witness the handiwork of our loving Heavenly Father. Each element of nature, meticulously placed and designed, speaks of His boundless grace and care. As Psalm 19:1 (NIV) reminds us, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” All creation points us back to His goodness. God continually responds to us with love, beauty, power, and grace.
Walking in Daily Gratitude and Faith
He designed these wonders for our joy and well-being. And just as He responds to us in countless ways, every moment of life calls for a response from us to Him—a chance to acknowledge Him with faith and gratitude. As Jesus said in Revelation 3:20 (NLT), He stands at the door and knocks, inviting us into daily fellowship with Him. That invitation is a blessing beyond imagination. We may not hold every desire of our hearts right now, but we are still immeasurably blessed. As we walk with the Lord in reverence and honor, our faith deepens, and in His perfect time, He fulfills the longings of our hearts.
Cherishing our relationship with our Heavenly Father is what life is truly about. Our oneness with Him anchors us as we move forward, resting in the truth that His grace overflows and His plans for us are always good. With a thankful heart, we can approach each day with excitement, confident that our faith is being strengthened. In doing so, we honor the incredible gift of walking with God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
