Because You Love Us

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving us Your Spirit. We can’t live a successful Christian life without Your precious Holy Spirit living on the inside of us. He guides us into all truth. He is our teacher, comforter, and friend. In John 16:8(NLT), You tell us another one of his occupations. This verse states, “And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.” The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin. The act of sin is one of not believing and trusting Your Word. Any time we do not trust Your Word, we’ll land ourselves in hot water. The longer we let this sin sit in our hearts and minds, we self-sabotage even more. Your Holy Spirit will help us to confront it, so that we can repent and get the sin out of our hearts and minds.

Our sin does not cause You to stop loving us. Romans 8:35,37, 39 (NLT) tells us, “35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Nothing separates us from Your love, and You will never stop loving us.

The reason that You hate sin is because it keeps us from enjoying the bounty of Your blessings. Your blessings are tied to faith. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 21:22(NLT), “You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” Faith is the condition on which we receive from You. We can’t demonstrate faith if we are living with the fear that comes from sin.

James 4:17(NLT) tells us, “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” Many of us make excuses for our wrong doing, but those of us who love You and want to please You feel guilty about our disobedience. We are not comfortable with it. This sorrowful feeling is the conviction of the Holy Spirit, telling us to repent so that we can get back in right standing with You. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Thank You that He convicts our hearts, so that we don’t forget who we are in Christ.

Psalm 86:5(NLT) says, “O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.” If we ask for Your forgiveness, Your Word tells us that You will forgive us. You love us, and always want the best for us. We need to understand that our wrong decisions, bad behaviors, and incorrect choices are not without ramifications. We don’t get to bypass the consequences; but Your grace will continually cover us as we repent and make a greater commitment to renew our minds to Your Word.

Thank You for Your goodness, mercy, love, and grace. You are so awesome and amazing, Most Holy God. Thank You for Jesus Christ and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Please help us to be a blessing to Your Kingdom, and let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
