Don’t Be Anxious

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for giving us Your peace. You tell us in Philippians 4:6-7(NLT), “6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”  Heavenly Father, You’ve done so much for us, and we don’t have a word deep or wide enough to express the gratitude and glory You deserve. We shouldn’t be focused on the cares of this world, but we should keep our minds continually focused on You as we follow the example of the Lord Jesus Christ and continue to praise Your Holy name. But the truth is that we slip in this area, Father, and some of us are very anxious right now.

I’ve had a really challenging week, and I allowed myself to sink in my mind and heart. I know it is because I have tried to take over the wheel of my life, instead of continuing to surrender it to Jesus Christ. I sometimes forget that I have a very limited view of things, but You see everything. Because I can’t see and understand how resources, funds, and situations are going to come together, I freak out a little bit. That nervousness in the pit of my stomach seems to shake all the confidence I thought I had.

Through the Apostle Paul, You tell us in 1Corinthians 15:58(NLT), “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” Dear Heavenly Father, please remind us that You are the glue that holds everything together. When we stand strong, even though the devil is whispering messages of defeat and despair in our ears, You are pleased, because we are making a conscious effort to not let fear takeover. You tell us not to worry and be filled with anxiety over problems and situations. Instead, You command us to pray to You about it in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. You tell us in Romans 8:28 that You cause everything to work together for our good, and we must trust this with our whole hearts.

Heavenly Father, You don’t miss a beat. We are the ones that get things messed up by not trusting You to work things out and not being patient with Your perfect timing. God, please forgive us for this and all the other sins we have committed. You are not angry with us, and You are not punishing us. You saved us through Jesus Christ and You want us to live for him! Then we can stay continually blessed. We don’t have to be antsy or confused. You want us to rest in Your peace through Jesus Christ. You don’t want us to turn to the left or to the right, but to keep our eyes stayed on You. Psalm 46:10-11(NLT) commands us, “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.”

There is none like You. Truly You are our strong tower and mighty fortress. We are living this very moment because YOU alone are keeping us alive. Please help us to remember that You are in control. You are not slack in anyway, and Your purpose will always and forever prevail. You are faithful to Your Word, and You love us and will take care of us. Romans 8:31 affirms that if You are for us, who can ever be against us? For there is none more powerful and loving than You.

Thank You for all Your many blessings. Thank You for giving us Your Son, Jesus Christ, as  as a sacrifice for sins. Thank You for saving us through him, and thank You for indwelling us with the extraordinary gift of Holy Spirit. We pray all these things in the wondrous name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
