A Journey Through His Life, Teachings, and Eternal Purpose
Look at What He Did
The Life of Jesus Christ | Part Four
Introduction
In our last teaching, we looked at how Jesus Christ lived—His obedience to the Father, His compassion for people, and His unwavering commitment to truth. But there is another part of His earthly life that reveals even more about who He is. Jesus did things no ordinary human being could do. He demonstrated authority over sickness, demons, nature, and even death.
The miracles of Jesus were extraordinary, but they were never simply displays of power. They revealed something about who He is. When Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, calmed storms, and raised the dead, people were witnessing the authority of the eternal Son of God.
01 | Even the Wind and Waves Obey Him
In Mark 4, Jesus and His disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee when a fierce storm arose. The waves were breaking into the boat, and the disciples were afraid they were going to die. Jesus stood and spoke to the wind and the sea, and immediately the storm became calm. The response of the disciples tells us how remarkable this was. Mark 4:41 (NLT) says, “The disciples were absolutely terrified. ‘Who is this man?’ they asked each other. ‘Even the wind and waves obey him!’”
02 | Who Is This Man?
That question—“Who is this man?”—is the question His miracles kept putting before everyone who witnessed them. He demonstrated authority over disease. He spoke, and demons had to obey. He spoke, and the wind and waves became still. Then He stood outside the tomb of Lazarus and called a dead man back to life.
Who is this man?
He is the One whose authority reaches beyond sickness, beyond demons, beyond creation itself. Even death had to answer when Jesus called.
03 | His Power Revealed His Compassion
His miracles also revealed His compassion. Jesus didn’t perform miracles merely to impress people or entertain the crowds. Again and again, His power met people in places of real need. The blind received their sight. The lame walked. The sick were restored. Those oppressed by demons were set free. And the dead were raised.
Jesus had all authority, but He never treated people’s suffering as an opportunity to put His power on display. He saw people who were hurting, people who needed help, people whose lives had been changed by sickness, loss, and circumstances beyond their control. His miracles showed that the One who had authority over disease, demons, creation, and death was also deeply moved by the people standing in front of Him.
Conclusion | His Miracles Reveal Who He Is
The miracles point us beyond what Jesus did to who He is. The Man walking the roads of Galilee was the same eternal Son through whom all things had been created. Creation recognized His authority because He is Lord over it.

Listen to What He Said
Jesus Christ didn’t simply demonstrate the power of God. He taught people the truth about the Father, the Kingdom of God, and eternal life. In our next teaching, we’ll listen more closely to His words and what they reveal about following Him.
His Miracles Point Us to Him

The miracles of Jesus Christ were extraordinary, but their greatest significance is found in what they reveal about Him. He has authority over sickness, demons, creation, and even death. Yet the One who possesses such power also showed extraordinary compassion toward people in need. His miracles invite us to look beyond what happened and recognize who was standing before them—the eternal Son of God.
