Thank You for Hearing Our Prayers

Dear Heavenly Father,

This week, I noticed a change in one of my good friend’s mood. Usually, he’s in a good mood, joking and laughing with me, having good conversation. It was different this week, and I mentioned to him that I had noticed a change. I asked if I had inadvertently said or did something that might have offended him. Sometimes we make comments that seem perfectly fine to us, but are hurtful or unsetting to someone else. Your standard of Godliness should prompt us to always be on guard and check-in with our friends to make sure we’re honoring our relationships with care. My friend said that I had not offended him, but that he was going through some issues. Later that day, he texted me. He apologized for his mood lately and asked me to pray for him.

Isaiah, the prophet, said in the Book of Isaiah:61:1(NLT), “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.” This was a foretelling of our Messiah and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. He read this scripture from Isaiah in the synagogue at Nazareth, because it applied entirely to him. He came to bring good news, comfort the brokenhearted, and release those that are imprisoned and chained by addictions, fears, and other problems. Jesus Christ fulfilled the scripture that was spoken by the prophet, Isaiah.

You tell us in Romans 12:15 (NLT), “Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep.” This informs us of the heart we should have towards others. Through his example, Jesus Christ also taught us our mission. You have empowered us through the Holy Spirit to be compassionate, loving, and humble; just as Jesus was when he walked the earth. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for giving us a heart that is open completely to You, so that we can be sensitive to Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for helping us to hear Your promptings regarding being a blessing to others, to open our mouths and ask them if they are troubled.

Please help us to be mindful that we need to pray for people. You tell us in Ephesians 6:18 (NLT), “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” When it comes to those in need of our prayers, help us learn to be tactful and concerned, and not too intrusive, but ask as the Spirit leads, so that we can pray more specifically.

My friend was so grateful that I prayed for him. Please watch over and protect Him. Thank You for honoring this prayer, and for helping all those that are heartbroken, going through troubling situations, and are asking You for direction and help. Please help them, Dear Father.

Thank you for the opportunity to pray for others, and thank You for blessing me to have a relationship with You. You are so awesome and amazing, and I love and honor You, Most Holy God. Thank You for Jesus, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Please help us to be a blessing to Your Kingdom, and let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
