God Will Protect Us!

As parents, we go to great lengths to protect our children, taking whatever measures necessary to ensure their safety. Child car-seats, toddler safety gates, cabinet latches and locks, and furniture bumpers are just a few of the tools we use, and we should. Things like security systems, fire and carbon monoxide detectors, and lockable safes are some of the devices we use to protect ourselves, our belongings, as well as our families. The point is that we will do whatever we deem necessary to protect what we value.

For Christians, the Word of God is the most valuable asset we have. 2Peter 1:3-4(NLT) tells us that in it contains all that is needed to live a Godly life. By believing and trusting in God’s Word, we can have a safe, secure, and bountiful earthly existence. Because of God’s glory and excellence, He’s provided great and precious promises that give us the ability to share in His divine nature. This is absolutely amazing!

To think that we can have the same nature as our extraordinary and Most Holy Heavenly Father is too wonderful for words. We use tools, technical gadgets, and devices to protect our families and homes. They make us feel secure, but they are not fail-safe. They don’t always protect us from injury and theft perpetrated by the devil. Putting on God’s divine nature and wearing it every moment of our lives allows us to escape the world’s corruption. God guarantees this in His Word.

Whenever Christians choose not to live by God’s principles and standards, and their lives become exposed to the enemy, we experience feelings of anxiety and insecurity. Instead of running back to God with open hearts in full surrender, some of us abandon our faith. Each time we decide to live outside of God’s Will, we roll the dice. This is dangerous, because God’s Will must be obeyed. He commands us to respond to Him with moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, and Godliness. This is how we remain under His protection, and it is also how we demonstrate that we value His Word and Will.

How much do you value your relationship with Heavenly Father through the Lord Jesus Christ?  Do earthly possessions hold more weight in your life than God? What measures have you put in place on a daily basis to protect the Word of God in your heart? Answers to these questions speak to our faith and commitment to honor God through His Word.

Psalms 62:6-8(NLT) says, “6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. 7 My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. 8 O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.” There’s no sugar-coating the truth, life can be very challenging, and we must know that there is no victory or success without the help of our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. As long as we take refuge in His love, and live by His Word, we can overcome any adversity. Gadgets, security systems, and locks may help, but our only true guaranteed protection comes from Heavenly Father. He will never fail us!■
