Speak Life and Not Death!

Dear Heavenly Father,

You tell us in Proverbs 18:21(KJV), “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” I love this verse because we so vividly see evidence of this truth every day of our lives. So many people do not recognize the significance of what they allow to roll from their lips. You have given us the ability to shape and mold the quality of our existences by the very words we speak. We can speak life into our circumstances by confessing the truth of Your promises, or we can speak death into our lives by confessing the opposite of what Your Word says. The choice is completely ours to make.

When I’m in a situation that feels like a defeat or seems as though I’m going to fall, I quickly confess the greatness of Your Word by saying “Father, You’re working everything out for my good, because I am called according to Your purpose, and I love You. Only You hold my tomorrow. You have a good plan for my life—a plan to give me a good future and hope. I will not lean on my own understanding, but I will trust You in all things.”

Father, sometimes we become so caught up in what a situation looks like that we forget You’ve called us to walk by faith and not by sight. We tell ourselves, “This is too much!!! I can’t do it!!!” This is nothing but the devil, trying to get into our heads to make us lose faith in You. Philippians 4:13 tells us that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. This is what Your Word says, so we must rebuke the devil in the powerful name of Jesus Christ and declare the truth! You are our sufficiency in all things, and You will never leave or forsake us!

If we need financial blessings, and our bank accounts show us debt and lack, we must not focus on this, but instead declare, “Father God, I thank You that I am rich today for You have blessed me with ALL spiritual blessings in Christ. Because of Your goodness, I have all I need to meet my financial obligations and to bless others according to Your Will. Thank You for taking care of my every need in the name of Jesus Christ!” We must never make negative confessions like, “I don’t have enough money!” or “I’m broke!” We must never let doubt rule our hearts and minds by thinking, “I’m not going to be able to pay my bills!” Heavenly Father, You have brought us this far, and You’re not going to leave us. You promised to do Your part when we do our part of speaking life—of confessing the positives of Your Word and trusting You with all our hearts.

Our responsibility as Your sons and daughters is to speak truth! Just because things look a certain way, that doesn’t mean they are the truth. Nothing representing darkness, lack, loneliness, drought, depletion, or defeat is the truth. It represents the enemy’s trickery, and it shows us that life has not been spoken and believed in those areas.

We need to stand firm by calling out a lie for what it is. It is not the truth, and we must recognize it as being from the pit of hell. We must not allow our hearts to sink because of what our physical eyes see. We cannot be swayed by the devil’s tricks. We must rebuke him and see victory with our spiritual eyes. When we see our situations from Your point of view, we won’t see defeat. We won’t see sickness because we’re already healed. We won’t see debt because we’re already rich in You. We won’t see unemployment as a problem, because You’ve already made a way for us to be employed. We are Christ’s ambassadors, and You won’t allow us to be without what we need, for Jesus tells us in John 10:10 (KJV), “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for Your provision. You are better to us than we could ever be to ourselves. You are our only help—our only refuge, and we look to You because we know You’re faithful to Your promises. Thank You for causing all things to work together for our good as we trust and believe in Your Word. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
