Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for teaching us how to handle our enemies in Your Word. In John 16:33(NIV), Your Son, Jesus Christ said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” There is so much going on all around us, and the darkness of some people seems to be worse than ever. When it comes to what is happening in the world at large, it’s unbelievable. It can be alarming if we’re not anchored in You. But there’s also a widespread occurrence that is happening with many believers in this season that is closer to home. The enemy is trying very hard to get people away from their destinies, because he knows that’s where the treasures are. It is unusual in the sense that the devil is causing a lot of evil in the family unit. Not only is it very hurtful, Heavenly Father, but it can have long lasting damage that hurts generations to come.
There have been many evils in family bloodlines, evils like adultery, abuse, idolatry, and many other types of dysfunction. Because of these, many of Your sons and daughters have negative habit patterns that are engrained in our hearts and minds. These things are insidious because they can remain inside us and be hidden for a long time, but when they come out, they do so in ways that allow the devil to continue cursing and plaguing the lineage and generations of a family. Some call this a generational curse, but the label isn’t nearly as important as understanding that the root of it is the devil. Our job as Your called-out ones is to stop the pattern of behavior that allows the curse to continue, so that future generations can walk fully in the liberty of Christ.
We have a tendency to take matters into our own hands, but Your way of handling situations demands that we lean solely on the Spirit to guide us through every situation. It is only when we are guided by Your Spirit that we can follow the little steps of obedience that cause us to make crooked paths straight. Philippians 2:13 says that YOU will work through us to will and do of YOUR good pleasure. You will show us the way to apply correction that is aligned with Your Will and Word. Help us, please Dear Father, to be the ones to break generational curses in our family bloodlines. Let us hear and recognize Your voice so that we can always be obedient to do what You’ve called us to do. We invite Your Spirit to have his way, so that we can walk and operate from a place of repentance and correction according to Your standard, and not our own.
Thank You for showing us Your love, strength, and power as we seek to grow in You and trust You with our whole hearts. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
