Time to Get Close to You

Dear Heavenly Father,

In Old Testament times, Psalm 60:2 says that You allowed the earth to tremble and break, and only You can heal it. Today, in our time, the world is shaking, and many people are afraid. One of the laws of physics is that for every action in nature there is a reaction. Scholars of all kinds have given this law a lot of importance, but as believers, we must understand that You are the One that has set all laws in place. Your Word is the beginning of knowledge. You tell us in Galatians 6:7 that we should not be deceived because Your justice is perfect; therefore, a person will always reap what they sow. The results of whatever we plant and put out there is going to come back to us.

This law works with a mathematical precision. In Galatians 5:19-21, You have told us that by letting our sinful nature be the forerunner of our decisions, we are going to end up with results of sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Sin has an extremely high price. Romans 6:23 says that the wages of sin is death. When sinful behavior is the action, it will demand a consequence for its effort. This is what we’re seeing on a very wide scale right now. We are seeing the consequence of disobeying Your Word for so long.

You have been so patient with us. You are not punishing people with a disease. The law dictates that if we play on the devil’s playground of sin, he will not let that opportunity slip by, but will target the consequence to steal, kill, and destroy; Jesus Christ tells us in John 10:10 that this is what the devil is in the earth to do. Father, please help us to open our eyes and recognize that You are our strong fortress and Protector. Forgive us, Dear Father, for not praying enough—for not taking advantage of all the time and opportunities You have provided through Your grace for us to become spiritually mature. Please help us to be better.

Jesus Christ invites us in Matthew 11:29(NLT), “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” You don’t want us to cower in fear, thinking that You’re out to get us for being bad. You love us! You want the best for us. During this time of staying at home, we need to take this precious opportunity to learn about Jesus Christ. This will lead to rest for our souls. We can increase our times of prayer and draw close to You, because You desire intimacy with Your people. We have a chance to prove that we trust You and to seek You with all our hearts. I choose You, Heavenly Father, totally and completely. I choose to be obedient to Your Word through Jesus Christ. I choose Your love, Your comfort, and Your protection. Please help us to see the error of our ways, to repent, and to grow in Your love during these challenging times.

Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
