When God is Well Pleased

Dear Heavenly Father,

You want us to have the same mind that Jesus Christ had when He walked upon this earth. You have given us wonderful ministers to equip us so that we can measure up to the full stature of Christ. We should believe as he believed, live as he lived, and give as he gave. You tell us in Ephesians 4:14-15 that being ignorant is a dangerous thing, because we can be controlled by others like an infant. You don’t want us tossed about from the deceptive teachings of those who promote false doctrines. We should be living Your truth in love, because living truth creates and perpetuates an atmosphere of growth.

Too many of us are still in spiritual infancy. The time we’re living in will no longer support it, and we must grow out of this immature stage. We can’t be old babies still on milk and expect to be able to handle the blessings of the spiritually mature. You’ve shown us through the pattern of life that there are stages to development. Newborns are in the infant stage, and they can do very little for themselves. They rely totally on their parents or guardians. In the toddler stage, children gain a little independence, and learn to share and interact. As they move from early childhood to adolescence, and then adulthood, the requirements and expectations from other people and society will increase. As adults, we have greater responsibility, and by the same token, we expect greater rewards.

Our physical development is based on the pattern of our spiritual development. It’s not the other way around. You set the pattern of spiritual development before we were born. You have given us a call to meet and a purpose to fulfill. You don’t want to see a graduate from Your Word still behaving like someone just beginning to learn it. This is why we need to constantly renew our minds to the mind of Christ. We must put on more of Your Word each day, so that we meet Your standard of continually growing and abounding through our Lord and Savior. Please help us to do this, Dear Father. Sometimes, we are discouraged because we don’t understand certain things in the Bible. Please enlighten our understanding so that we can comprehend. Please send resources across our paths to aid us.

Heavenly Father, many of us should be at the level where tithing, studying, praying, and meditating on Your Word should be as organic as washing our face and brushing our teeth. We should be increasing in our responsibilities to the faith, not decreasing. Ephesians 1:3 tells us that You have blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Our hearts should swell with gratitude for all You have done for us. We should be increasing in spiritual abilities and talking to You way more than we talk to our friends. Please open our eyes to the reality of the words Jesus Christ spoke in Luke 12:48, that we’ve received a wealth of provision, and more of us is required.

None of us are perfect, but because of Your overwhelming mercy and grace, we are being perfected in Christ moment by moment. Father, we want You to be well pleased with us. You’ve prepared a seat for us at Your table, and we desire to humble ourselves so that we honor You in the way You deserve. This is not to receive blessings. It is to please You with a heart that is humble and genuine, for there’s no greater joy than to know that You are pleased with our lives.

Thank You for showing us Your love, strength, and power as we seek to grow in You and trust You with our whole hearts. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
