Bigger Fights and Even Bigger Victories

Dear Heavenly Father,

You tell us in 1Peter 5:8(NLT), “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” Many of us have not heeded Your warning in 1Peter 5:8 and have succumbed to the enemy’s tricks. We didn’t recognize his attempts to steal, kill, and destroy the most precious blessings in our lives; and we suffered tremendously. It is a mistake to sleep on the devil and to think he will not use people and circumstances to come against us. Your Word is truth! You have warned us to stay alert. From this, we must know that we are to be continually on guard. We need to stay in Your Word so that our spiritual hearing and seeing is always on point.

Please help us to have the courage and faith that David had when he defeated Goliath. He was just a boy and Goliath was a giant, but David had confidence that even in the face of incredible odds, You would work through him and give him the victory. As king of the children of Israel, David would face even greater battles to fight, but because he defeated Goliath, his faith grew. So, when he became king, he was prepared in his mind and heart for bigger fights and even bigger victories. You covered David because he was continually humble before You. When we humble ourselves, You will cover us as well.

When we are not on guard, Dear Father, and something really troubling happens, we are devastated. Then, we make the mistake of focusing on the problem instead of focusing on You. David said in Psalm 73:26(NLT), “My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” Everything in this earth is temporary, but Your power, love, and strength is ours forever. You’ve told us to look neither to the left or the right, but to keep our eyes stayed on You. Through the prophet, Isaiah, in Isaiah 40:31, You tell us that those who trust You with their whole hearts will find new strength; they will soar high on wings like eagles because they are increasing and going higher in their faith in You. They will run, and not get tired, because You give them renewed energy and vigor. This is what You do for Your people when they trust You wholeheartedly.

The engine that propels our elevation and promotion is our faith in You, for You are faithful to Your Word. You will keep Your promises to us, and we will be victorious because of what You’ve done through Jesus Christ. Like the Apostle Paul said in 2Corinthians 4:17, the light affliction we endure will not last, but it is revealing a treasure that is more priceless than any of us can quantify. It’s the treasure of a faith that proves Your Will is perfect and that You cannot fail. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for helping us to see that the more we grow in our faith in You through the Lord Jesus Christ, the more we become who You destined us to be. Because of Christ, we are so much more than what we have believed. We are Your children, and You have given us victory through Christ, and through him we are well-equipped to fight the good fight of faith.

Thank You, Dear Father, for blessing our going in and coming out. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
