Nothing Has Changed with God

At the end of the day, none of us are sure or aware of what is going to happen in the next moment, day, month, or year. We have no clue. At any moment, life can change within less time than it takes to blink an eye. God has all power in His hands. He owns everything, and He has the power to do anything that serves His good pleasure. He can make things in such a way that those of us living today would not even remember the world that existed yesterday. The huge blessing of our lives is that our Heavenly Father is not inconsistent. He’s not flip-floppy like we are. He said in Malachi 3:6(NLT), “I am the LORD, and I do not change.” This is Good News for us indeed.

We can count on our Heavenly Father with full and unwavering confidence because He never disappoints, and it is impossible for Him to fail. Hebrews 13:5-6(NLT) reminds us, “5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, ““I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” 6 So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”” We should never lose sight of God’s power, and His desire for us to know Him through His Word. We need to stand in awe of His mercy and grace, and we need to recognize that the only reason that we are alive today is because He has Willed it, and He desires it.

Technology and the many other conveniences of modern times has gone to our heads. We’ve gotten out of pocket in our expectations and in the level of gratitude and reverence we should have for God. We forget that everything we enjoy today is because He gave the life of His only begotten Son as a sacrifice for our sins, as John 3:16 tells us. The sophistication and advancements of our time do not even scratch the surface of those in the heavenly realm. So, we must recognize that when everything is said and done, life boils down to how we love and honor God and whether we are committed to be obedient to His Word.

Colossians 3:1(NLT) tells us, “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.” As God’s sons and daughters, we are in the world, but we are not of it. Our home is the place where our Father lives. Our birthplace is heaven, and we can never forget this. We are God’s spiritual children, and at every moment of our lives on this earth, He expects us to act, speak, think, and live like we know this.

Many of God’s children have taken a license to be slack with upholding the standards of God’s Word, but nothing has changed with God. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The Ten Commandments are not obsolete, and God’s Word will never go out of style. His Word is life to us and living according to God’s Word is how we remain alive on this earth and live a good and Godly life. When Jesus Christ was being tempted by the devil in the wilderness after having fasted forty days and nights, he declared in Matthew 4:4(ESV), “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

You may think that you’ve got everything under control in your life. You may even believe that your way is the right way, that you can get you where you need to be on your own, but you don’t know the future. We can’t even predict our next breath. It is only through God’s grace that we will live to see another day. The truth is that none of us have the answers. All we have is the Lord and He is enough. So, the best thing that any of us can ever do is heed and obey God’s Word, and the greatest gift that we can give to ourselves is to get out of our own way and place our lives in His unchanging hands. Trusting in God and following His Word is the path to this life, and it is the only way that we can be with the Lord and live an eternity with Him in Christ. ■
