Trusting God’s Timing When You’re Waiting for a Breakthrough
This season I’m walking through has shown me just how fast life can flip in twenty-four hours. One day you go to sleep expecting to wake up to the same routine, the same rhythm… and then everything shifts. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s painful, but none of it ever catches God off guard. He already knew the twists before they showed up in my life.
He’s omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient—fully aware, fully in control. Revelation 1:8 (NLT) reminds us, “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
Stepping Into a New Season With Faith
When we step into a new season—especially one that looks like the very thing we’ve been praying for—the process getting there can still catch us off guard. It’s strange how something we’ve wanted for so long can bring stress, questions, and pressure at the same time. You find yourself asking, “Lord, what’s going on?” because one moment everything looks like it’s falling into place, and the next you’re wondering if you misread the whole thing. You take a few strong steps forward and it feels promising, but then you hit that holding phase… waiting on God to Bring the full manifestation of His promise. And that waiting can be uncomfortable, heavy, and honestly, confusing.
What God Does in the Waiting Season
But that in-between place is where God does some serious work in us. Not to discourage us, but to prepare us. You can feel the blessing forming—you just can’t lay hands on it yet. You sense the shift, but not the completion. And that gap will stretch your faith and test your trust in God’s timing. But even when it’s quiet, He’s working. He’s steadying your heart, correcting your thoughts, strengthening you from the inside out, and getting you ready for what you prayed for. The process might feel disorienting, but trust… God is in every piece of it, bringing it together exactly on time. Romans 8:28 (NLT) reminds us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
I often tell myself, “It’s easier to have faith for other people than it is to have faith for ourselves.” And honestly, that’s true sometimes. When it’s someone else’s situation, our emotions aren’t tangled up in it. Nothing is clouding our judgment. It’s easy to see how God can turn things around for them. But when it’s us? Now we’re wrestling with anxiety, doubts, and the need to make sense of things that just don’t make sense yet.
Instead of having faith, we slip into asking, “God, are You going to do it?” That’s where we have to take those thoughts captive and cover our minds with the Word. Philippians 4:6–7 (NLT) says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
We can thank Him with confidence, knowing He’s already gone ahead of us. It’s not a matter of if—it’s simply when. And when He does it, the praise that comes out of our mouths will be overflowing with faith, relief, and deep gratitude.
Holding On Until It Breaks Through
So if you’re in that space where you’re waiting, questioning, or trying to make sense of what God is doing, don’t lose heart. This season of waiting on God is not wasted. His faithfulness can be trusted, and His promises cannot fail. Keep praying, keep thanking Him, and keep your mind anchored in His Word. You’re not being overlooked—you’re being prepared. And when the blessing finally shows up, you’ll see that not one moment was wasted. ■
