Women Like Me

Led by the Spirit in a Season That Feels Slow

Hebrews 12:1(NLT):
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

A defining mark of God’s children is that we are led by His Spirit — and this is one of the greatest privileges we will ever receive. Still, there are moments when emotions try to take the lead. There are women reading this who love God, pray sincerely, and occasionally feel as though life is moving forward for everyone else but them. You may recognize that feeling too. Engagements appear on your timeline. Baby announcements come one after another. You smile, celebrate, and mean it — and yet there’s a quiet ache that surfaces alongside the joy. You feel stuck and might even think: Why is this happening to a woman like me? But what feels slow is not stagnant. God’s work is often invisible before it becomes undeniable.

There are countless women out here praying, searching, and hoping that one day their relationship status will shift. When you look at where you are and where you believe God is taking you, it can feel like you haven’t moved an inch. And in that waiting, your mind can take you places your mouth would never admit. Am I good enough? Did I miss my moment? Why am I still single when I’ve tried to do things right? These are the thoughts we don’t say out loud — not even to our closest sister-friend — but God knows them all. Psalm 139:2 (NLT) says, “You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.” Your desires are not random or overlooked. Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) assures us that God has a plan for our lives — a future filled with hope. Our invitation is not to rush the process, but to trust Him and partner with Him by faith as we walk it out, one faithful step at a time.

Running Your Race Without Comparison

Here’s what every Christian woman needs to know: God is not intimidated or offended by your honesty. He sees every hidden question and every emotion. Psalm 145:20 (NLT) reminds us that the Lord never loses sight of His own: “The LORD watches over all who love him.” You are not forgotten. You are not behind. The race Hebrews 12:1–2 describes is not a solo race, and it is not shaped by comparison or human timelines. Across the world are women like you — women like me — laying down the weight of expectation, trusting God’s timing, and running with endurance.

Scripture reminds us that “He who began a good work within you will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (Philippians 1:6 NLT). You are not chasing a promise but walking with the Promiser. You are not stalled, but you are being shaped. And you are always, always seen by Christ, who is faithful to complete what He has begun.

Discernment, Boundaries, and Trusting Christ’s Lead

Jesus knows the thoughts we bury beneath our pain, and He never shames us for them. Instead, He draws us closer. In Matthew 11:28 (NLT), He invites us, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” As women who understand that we are His bride, we can trust this truth: God is not stalling our lives. He is forming us in Christ. In the waiting, He is teaching us how to lay aside unnecessary weight, trust His timing, and keep running the race with our eyes fixed not on what feels missing, but on the Savior who is present, faithful, and always with us.

And this is where we need to be honest. I remember a friend telling me she signed up for a popular dating site, hoping it might increase her chances of meeting a godly man. What she encountered instead were men who weren’t serious, weren’t available, or weren’t honest about who they really were. Some wanted attention without commitment. Others wanted connection without responsibility. Even the ones who seemed promising often held back the truth. Over time, her frustration boiled down to one simple request: please just be up front, so we don’t waste each other’s time. That plea reflects something deeper many women are wrestling with — a desire for clarity, integrity, and truth. And it points us back to Christ, who never misrepresents Himself, never hides His intentions, and never leads us on. What He promises, He fulfills. What He begins, He completes.

This is where discernment becomes essential. Discernment is not suspicion; it’s spiritual clarity. Psalm 37:23 (NLT) tells us, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” When we listen for God’s voice, He doesn’t just guide us toward what is good — He also guards us from what would cost us peace, time, or truth. Boundaries aren’t walls built out of fear; they are wisdom put into practice. They protect the work God is doing in us while we wait.

Women like me are not women waiting in uncertainty; we are women learning to walk in wisdom. We are not desperate for love; we are rooted in Christ. We are women who value discernment, honor boundaries, and trust the voice of God more than the pressure of the moment. All over the world, there are women like us — women choosing faith over fear, truth over illusion, and Christ over counterfeit connection. Women like me. Women like you. Women learning, growing, and walking forward, confident that the One who leads us knows us fully, loves us fiercely, and leads us wisely. ■
