Let’s talk about her—that strong woman. She’s carrying a whole lot, with a to-do list in one hand and the emotional weight she was never meant to hold in the other. She knows how to make a dollar stretch, a child feel safe, and a boardroom sit up straight. She’s a walking prayer request and a whole praise report all at once. We know her all too well—the one holding back tears until she’s alone in the car, still showing up for everybody even when her heart is breaking and her mind is tired. Strong because you’ve got to be. Strong because nobody’s checking on you like you’re checking on them. It’s a full-time job—and most days, it feels like there’s no off switch.
Here’s what we have to keep telling ourselves: being strong doesn’t mean you don’t need grace. Sometimes what looks like strength is really survival. And God sees that. He sees the woman who keeps it all together but falls apart behind closed doors. The one who hears “you’re so strong” more than she hears, “how are you really doing?” In Matthew 11:28 (NLT), Jesus says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” This is not just words—it’s a personal invitation from our beloved Savior. One that reaches into the life of the woman who’s exhausted but still pressing forward. The one who feels like rest has to be earned. But Jesus offers it freely, right in the middle of the busyness and the burnout.
Strength in Weakness
Grace doesn’t wait for the calm to arrive—it shows up right in the thick of the chaos, the overwhelm, the mess. It’s there when your patience is paper-thin, your back aches, and you’re standing in the kitchen wondering why you walked in there in the first place. Grace says you’re still enough. Grace whispers that you don’t have to do it all to be loved. That’s why in 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT), the Lord reminds Paul—and us—“My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” You don’t have to pretend you’re not tired. You don’t have to fake fine. God doesn’t bless the performance—He blesses the surrender.
Real strength isn’t about how much you carry. It’s about knowing when to set it down and let God carry you. In our weakness, God’s grace shines brightest. It’s not about pretending to be strong when we feel weak, but about trusting in the grace of God to fill the gaps where we fall short. The strong woman is not less strong for resting in the Lord—she is more capable because she relies on God’s strength.
Resting in God’s Strength
Sometimes, we feel like we have to hustle for our worth, but God has given us that for free. We are called, chosen, and anointed, but Woman of God, you still need to rest. You still need to set some boundaries that help to protect your peace. And the wonderful thing is that you don’t have to do it alone. God will help us. We must learn to resist the temptation to rely on our own strength to carry us through everything. Because the reality is that our strength is limited, and only God’s strength can sustain us. Isaiah 40:29 (NLT) tells us, “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.”
As we rest in His presence, we tap into His limitless power, which can carry us through challenges and give us the peace we need. Resting in God’s strength means acknowledging that we can’t do everything on our own and trusting that He will provide what we need.
Grace to Grow
Strong women aren’t born—they’re built. And building takes time, mistakes, and some hard resets. Growth can get messy, and it hardly ever feels perfect. But God’s grace doesn’t flinch. It walks with you through every stage—every setback, every lesson, every version of who you’re becoming. You’re allowed to outgrow what no longer fits, healing one layer at a time, and learning as you move forward. Like Philippians 1:6 (NLT) reminds us, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” You don’t have to be perfect to be powerful. You just have to keep showing up with your heart surrendered and your eyes on God. He knows the woman you’re becoming, and His grace honors the process, and keeps showing up—especially when you feel like you’re falling behind.
There is grace for the strong woman—a grace that speaks to the heart, one that invites rest and peace. Being a strong woman is a beautiful thing when that strength is built from a total dependence upon the strength of God. His grace is sufficient for every woman—whether she is facing a challenge, carrying a heavy load, or simply in need of a break. Hebrews 4:16 (NLT) tells us, “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Rest is not a sign of weakness; it is a sign of trusting in God’s strength to carry us through. God’s grace is freely offered to us all. So, let us come to Him, lay our burdens down, and find rest for our souls. ■
