Kissed with God’s Favor

Over the course of the next year, you are going to witness a kiss of God’s favor that is unlike anything you’ve experienced to date. It will be unprecedented in the fact that you will literally feel and see the hand of God in your circumstances. Details of which you have been totally unaware will come to the forefront, and you will be amazed by how quickly and miraculously your life has changed. It will be as though a muzzle is placed on the mouths of those who desire to speak ill of you. They will want to utter words against your name, but won’t be able to. Doors that were once closed will be opened, and those connected with you will be blessed as the favor that is on your life engulfs theirs as well.

I’m talking about situations where you really need resolution in order for your life to move forward, and all of a sudden, it’s done! You might need a financial blessing in the worse way, and an overflow that you never saw coming pops up out of nowhere. You prayed about it, and did the best you could with what you had, and you never expected a huge blessing like that would land in your lap. This is the kind of favor that God has in store for many of you reading this.

And what about those who have prayed and prayed to meet a Godly husband that would truly be a blessing to their lives. My personal experience is that of seriously focusing my prayer life for several months in this area. Before then, I had met a number of guys that were not compatible at all with my expectations, and I had become utterly disappointed with the whole dating thing. I told the Lord that if there wasn’t a man out there who was able to be hard working, committed, faithful, and my kind of cute, I’d just stay single. I truly meant this. I love the Lord so much that I could envision living an unmarried life of praising and worshipping Him, and growing in Christ. He had filled my cup to such a degree that I knew that I would be happy with just walking with the Lord as a single woman all my days.

I had a desire to be married, but I would not compromise by marrying someone that would ultimately harm my walk with God. I had a set term to focus on this area of my life, and when it was over, I changed the focus of my prayers to something else, and moved on. I left it totally and completely in the Lord’s hands.

God blessed me with a husband when I least expected it. As we continued to grow as a couple and in the union of marriage, I realized that God has surpassed my expectations in ways I could not have imagined. Details that I had never thought about—never in the scope of what I would think—were all wrapped up with a beautiful bow by Heavenly Father. This is not to say that everything is always rosy, but this teaching is too short and words too inadequate to express God’s favor in my life in the area of marriage. It’s not about the man, it is about what God will do through the man; this is what should excite the hearts of women.

Whether we want to admit it or not, many of us have become way too comfortable with life in the same lane. It has been so long since we’ve been pleasantly surprised by God’s favor, that we have almost forgotten how terrific the unexpected feels. But let’s be clear about this, God isn’t withholding His favor. That isn’t the problem. He’s waiting on us to wake up. You see, if you allow yourself to forget the enthusiasm of expectancy, your mind will lose the flexibility of faith. When this happens, you begin to draw to yourself things that promote sameness and routine. Jesus Christ did not live this way, and neither should we. God is breaking you out of this box, so get ready!

All of us have heard the beautiful words of Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) where God says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” You didn’t get here by accident. God sent you to the earth for a reason. Everything that you need to affect those under your span of influence you already have. You’re not weak, and you were not designed for failure, but for success, love, and power.

When it comes to God’s favor, truth be told, if we’re still above ground God has already kissed each of us with His divine favor, but there’s another level that we are slated to move into. He is calling upon each of us to make a change and begin to move in the direction of His overflow. This is both an emotional and mental change that we must make.

In order for any person to move towards a target, they first have to know that a target exists, and then this person has to change their thought process in order to accommodate mobility in the direction of the target. If you’re sitting in the back of something, for instance in the case of a theater, and you need to be in the front so that you can see clearly what is before you, it is natural to assume that you must first scope out a seat in the front, recalibrate your mind to make all the necessary adjustments physically; then you must get up and move towards the target in the front. These steps are common knowledge. So it is important for you to understand and accept that it’s time to change seats, for within God’s favor is the establishment of a new target. You’ve been living the old target and it has gotten you to this point. It’s time to come closer to God so that you can go higher.

The new target is by calling us back to a place of delighting in the Lord. We will sometimes allow the rigors of life to cause us to lose a little bit of this edge, and this is a practice we can no longer afford. When we delight in God, a sense of hopefulness and enthusiasm is forged. We get our grooves back, so to speak. The Psalmist told the Lord in Psalm 39:7 (NIV), “My hope is in you.” This is the attitude we must have to usher in all that waits for us.

The Apostle Paul said in Romans 15:13 (NLT), “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” The Apostle is directing us in our prayer lives. He’s telling us to pray that God will fill us completely with joy and peace, but there is a condition that must be met before we are filled. Romans 15:13 tells us that we must trust God first. Because of our trust, He will fill us. This means that we can’t walk around looking the part of being hopeful, but feeling so defeated way down inside that we have no expectation of joy in life.

You will impact the Kingdom of God this year in ways that you can’t fathom from where you’re sitting right now. New connections will be made. New people will come into your life. You don’t have to pretend to be somebody else, but you have to know the target, and it is for you to overflow with a confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Don’t let the heavies of fear and doubt weigh your life down. Get in the flow of the new momentum that God has for you, and devote yourself to a new target of being primed with positive expectations and walking in the richness of His favor. ■
