Share Your Anointing

All believers can receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit, and when we give our lives to Christ, the Spirit anoints us with special abilities. These abilities are an outward demonstration of what we have received inwardly. As we walk in the Spirit daily, God wants us to share our anointing with others. 1Corinthians 12:11(NLT) tells us, “It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.” The Holy Spirit gives us these special abilities, and under his leadership and direction, we can bless the body of Christ in many wonderful ways. This is what God wants us to do, and He rewards us tremendously as we follow the Spirit and go where he leads us.

1 Peter 4:9-11 (NLT) says “9 Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. 10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 11 Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.” We can see very clearly that we are empowered by God with these special gifts and abilities, and He has a purpose for them. They are not just for us, but for those whose lives He has appointed us to bless.

I’ve heard many believers say, “I don’t have a special gift, so I don’t have what it takes to be a blessing to others.” God’s Word says differently. Just because a person doesn’t know they are anointed, it doesn’t mean they don’t have an anointing. Every believer is blessed by God in this way, and if we’re not sure of our special gift, we need to pray and ask Him. James 1:5(NLT) tells us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Our Heavenly Father wants us to be knowable about operating in the Spirit’s power, and He certainly wants us to walk in wisdom when it comes to blessing the body of Christ. So, if we ask Him about the special ability that He’s given us, He will surely tell us if we are patient and motivated to do what He asks of us.

Also, we can be confident that the Holy Spirit will teach us as we humble ourselves to follow him. 1John 2:27(AMP) says, “27 As for you, the anointing [the special gift, the preparation] which you received from Him remains [permanently] in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you. But just as His anointing teaches you [giving you insight through the presence of the Holy Spirit] about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as His anointing has taught you, you must remain in Him [being rooted in Him, knit to Him].” Without the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we are ineffective. We might think we have it all together, but we desperately need the Spirit’s help. When we invite him to lead, guide, and direct us, we will be so thankful that we have asked for his help. He will not disappoint, and Philippians 2:13 tells us that the Spirit will work in us both to will and act in a way that pleases the Father.

God never intended for us to do life on our own, because we simply can’t. He created us to live through Jesus Christ so that we can be spiritually strong, have a relationship with Him, and be a blessing to His people. Romans 12:1 (NLT) says “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” Every spiritual blessing that we have received is intended to bring glory to our Heavenly Father. We owe our entire lives to Him, and considering all that He’s done for us, this is the very least we can do. So, using what the Lord has given us to serve Him and His kingdom is the greatest blessing of our lives, and we can be confident that He will reward us for being obedient and bringing glory to His name.
