Take It By Faith!

Dear Heavenly Father,

In Ephesians 2:10, You call the creation of humanity Your masterpiece. You tell us that we are Your finest work, and You created us as brand new creations in Christ Jesus. You want us to do the good things that You planned for us, and You planned these good things long before we ever arrived on the scene. In Genesis 1:26, You have told us all we need to know about exactly what You want us to do. You want us to reign over our lives and walk with the authority of Jesus Christ. This means You’ve stamped words like victory and success on our lives through him.

1Thessalonians 5:23 tells us we should pray that Your peace makes us holy in every way. It tells us we must keep our spirit, soul, and body blameless before You until our Lord and Savior returns. This verse affirms that indeed we are created in Your image. Just as You are Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we are three parts as well. We have a human spirit, a soul, and a body. Our human-spirit is the highest part of who we are because it has been made perfect through the new-birth experience. But many of us make the mistake of thinking that our body is the highest part of us, and we seek to please and pleasure it every chance we get. This is a serious mistake.

2Timothy 3:16 tells us that You have given us Your Word to correct us and to also train us in Your righteousness. This training that comes from Your Word is so important because it teaches how to stop walking by sight and begin to walk by faith. Many people in the body of Christ are stopping their spiritual progress because they are looking for manifestations of the flesh to see the results of Your promises, when they should be trusting Your Word and taking it by faith.

We get discouraged and beside ourselves when we don’t see results that agree with our expectations. You have told us to BE strong and courageous because You are always with us. Regardless of how we might feel, this is Your promise to us and it isn’t based on our feelings; it’s based on Your Word. But we think that You’re not working on our behalves simply because we don’t feel how we think we should feel, and we don’t see the expected sign or signal of Your work. The truth is that You are always at work in our lives. You have commanded us not to lean on our own understanding and not to lean on our feelings. We are all fearfully and wonderfully made, and we come equipped with our own brand of specialness, but because we might not feel as special as You’ve made us, we become down on ourselves, and feel unworthy.

When we listen to what the world says about us and do not trust Your Word enough to take it by faith, we then begin to look to other things for validation and gratification. We look to the world and society for the treasure that can only come from You. Father God, please give us a revelation of Your Word so we will stop walking by sight instead of walking by faith. We are what You say we are. We can do what You say we can do, and we can be who You say we can be. Ephesians 1:3 tells us we’ve been blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus. Even though we might not feel that we’ve been blessed so overwhelmingly abundantly, we must know this promise is ours because You’ve told us so. Our feelings might not indicate evidence of the promise, but we must take it by faith.

You tell us in Hebrews 11:1 that our faith is the evidence of what isn’t yet seen. So, we don’t need to see the thing we’ve prayed for to know that it’s ours. It’s ours because You’ve told us this in Your Word, and Your Word is all the assurance we will ever need. Please help us to fight the good fight of faith, and to strive to walk in it every moment of our lives, so that we are pleasing to You. Thank You for creating us all with our unique individuality, and please help us to use it for Your glory. Thank You for our Blessed Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, and thank You for the Holy Spirit. Let Your Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
